Geology

I'm K and I use they/them pronouns! My favorite things from Oberlin are College Lanes and visiting friends who work at the Local. At Oberlin I came into my own as a gentle punk and rock enthusiast. My claim to fame is that I named and created the name-tag for our beloved T-rex mascot Rexxy in the Geology Department one late night during finals of Fall 2018. During the year you could find me working/bowling at the lanes, in the metamorphic petrology lab on 4th floor Carnegie, or in my favorite womb chair on 3rd floor of Mudd (2nd from the door).

I studied abroad in Spring 2019 with the Oberlin-in-London Program. That year Amy Margaris and Zeb Page went over with us and I took a class where we got to see a play every week, which was incredible. I also traveled to Iceland during that semester to see the rocks.

By far my favorite place is Oberlin is College Lanes. The energy cultivated there by Tom Reid and the greater Oberlin community makes it an incredibly warm and special place to be. Whenever I didn't know where to go, I could go there and no matter how I felt walking in, I would come out calm and with love.

My first-year seminar, Marie Curie's Legacy with Dr. Whelan in the Chemistry department. It was the first time I had been apart of an exploration of gender at all, as well as in science. The course gave me a lot of perspective heading into the world of science in academia and hope within myself.

I'm taking some time off before heading to grad school. My plan is to live in the woods, maybe take a physics class at the local community college and take care of my kitty.
