About Me

In my time at Oberlin the bands I played in were the Milos, Hell No/Ex-Ben, Goy Division, and Weed Vacuum and I attended many sparsely and beer soaked shows. I loved every second of it. I panicked about my majors three times. My residences were 36 N. Pleasant, Barrows, Fairchild, and South. Sometimes, in times of desperation I would go to the middle of Tappan Square to listen for parties with my friends. The first night of my time at Oberlin, Ian English and I walked around and talked about movies and Jim O'Rourke. WOBC was my home. Working for Rachel Smith was the best job I had though the bake shop was a close second despite being late very day. My favorite morning activity before class Sophomore Year was to walk to The Local, get an everything bagel with scallion spread and a latte all while listening to Miki Dora by Amen Dunes. When I saw Frankie Cosmos at 123 S Professor I stood outside watching the band through the window. The best shows I saw were White Fence, L'Rain, Nots Iceage, Kero Kero Bonito, Jonathan Richman, Palm, Spirit of the Beehive, Tonstartssbandht, Japanese Breakfast, Hoops, Ovlov, Current Joys, Xiu Xiu, Mannequin Pussy (the Milos opened twice!), Boy Harsher, Escape-ism, and Protomartyr at the Sco. My favorite Cat show was Moses Sumney. I told him I didn't know how to read music and he said I didn't need to. My favorite show that I played was as the B-52's during the cover band showcase.

Favorite Place

WOBC with Honorable Mention for the Dionysus Discotheque because those were the places I met with my friends, did my radio shows (which are the source of my greatest pride about my time at Oberlin), and that's where I met most of my closest friends.

Favorite Class

European Socialisms with Annemarie Sammartino because not only is she the most genuine and funny professor but all I want to do after I finish her class is to read more! Being in class with Matt Grimm is always the best.

Memorable Oberlin Moment

Booking White Fence at the Sco was the achievement of an absolute life dream that met every expectation. The show was wonderful and it was such a privilege to do it through WOBC, my favorite campus organization.
