About Me
Im Rosemary Shin (she/hers), and I am a Psychology major & Dance minor. The creative and compassionate community at Oberlin allowed me to find my strengths as a leader, artist, and scientist. I challenged myself to do things that I never thought I would; I directed tap dance for the student organization ViBE Dance Company, conducted my own psychological research, and stage managed a dance production. One of my most memorable experiences was being a part of a StudiOC cluster-course called "The Art of Conflict Resolution," consisting of both a dance and a mixed media course. In sum, 13 other students and I collaborated artistically while also learning about and incorporating somatic approaches to conflict resolution. The end result was an entirely collaborative production consisting of music, dance, circus, acting, and creative writing. It was a stellar combination of psychology, dance, and community!

Favorite Place
My favorite Oberlin space is the dance building, Warner Center. It was built in 1900 and is a cozy, yet beautiful and grand building that provided me a place to freely dance and make lifelong friendships.
Favorite Class
Some of my favorites classes focused on the therapeutic and healing aspects of dance. Courses such as Body Re-education by Jennifer Shults and Somatic Experience of Dance by Nusha Martynuk changed the way I experience the world around me, and led me to an interest in the field of medicine.
