History

I am an Archaeological Studies and History double major, and have focused significantly on oral history and material culture studies in those departments. I've loved the opportunity to work with the Betty Glenn Oral History Project and the Oberlin Coalition for History. Outside of classes I worked as the producer for The Weekly - the Review's podcast, and as web editor of The Grape. Reflecting on my time at Oberlin feels daunting, there have been so many special people and places and stories in my life over the last four years. My friends, professors, advisors have been at the core of it all, helping me grow up and try to learn who I am and what I love. But I dont know how to actually acknowledge all the other people - students with the same king class schedule as me, friendly S&S workers, Stevie, Dascomb, UAW workers who keep the school running, friendly faces who Ive only talked to while walking between buildings or at the Feve, musicians whose music I want to dance to. Getting to grow up alongside all those people has made Oberlin what it is for me.

I love Wilder Bowl! The joy of knowing there would always be someone new to talk to, and if not it would be just a beautiful walk through the grass. I love watching it change with the weather: seeing the first group of frisbee players in the spring is always exciting. I love that I've gotten to know it in so many different ways - from the windows of Mudd, running between classes, the long friday afternoons, and even at night in the cold running with friends to the sco.

My favorite class was Borderlands with Pablo Mitchell! It was a tiny seminar where we all got to know one another and really appreciate the work. He gave us outstanding books to read and respected our ideas in a way I have never experienced before. Pablo is an outstanding professor and a tremendously kind supervisor.
