About Me

I'm Anna (she/her), an English major with an undying love for trees, Shakespeare, the moon, and Mama Earth. I minored in both GSFS and French, and tragically only discovered dance my last year at Oberlin. I have a sapling sprig tattooed on my right ankle and spent the 1.5 semesters of our senior year living in a beloved home on North Pleasant Street (the one and only Scudder House), with three best friends and dog/cryptid Frankie. I very much had the stereotypical Oberlin transformation (came in a good Christian girl with hair down my back, left a goddess-worshipping witch with Queer Hair (TM)). I write poetry (and cry often reading others) and, as much as I would love to be a full-time poet living in Scotland, I adore working with children and am a soon-to-be-teacher! I am an avid coffee drinker and consumer of cake and miss Slow Train and Blue Rooster every day. (This is not an exaggeration.) Our queer little slice of Ohio somehow became home, and I miss my Obie family with my wholest of hearts (and butts. Credit goes to Emily Barrow for that one). I would gladly be trapped in Stevie for innumerable hours if it meant I could be stuck in Upper Pizza with you.

Study Abroad

I lived my dream of running away to Scotland and (attempting to) learn to speak Gaelic my junior year. Edinburgh forever has my heart.

Favorite Place

I cry every time I think about the Science Center (belovedly known as the SCTR). RIP Love Lounge, the Atrium, the window bench seats of the SciLib (and those beautiful, beautiful plants), the lounge behind Craig, and the underrated nook by the bathrooms. And, of course, Kettering(town FC).

Favorite Class

Wendy Hymans Dark Shakespearean Comedies will forever hold a very special place in my heartnot only as one of the most incredible English classes I have taken (spoiler: Wendy Hyman is a common thread among them), but also as the class that introduced me to my advisor, one of my best friends, and so many of my favorite works. Honorable mentions to Intro Astronomy with Dan Stinebring, Ancient Sexualities with Kirk Ormand, Femmes Fatales with Stiliana Milkova, and Intro Contemporary with Holly Handman.

Memorable Oberlin Moment

Our last weekend at Oberlin was full of so much unexpected beauty. Thank you Mary Oliver for those wild geese. Bless OSteel and Obie acapella for the art, love, and connection they gave us that last Friday night <3 Oh, also, getting a stick-n-poke the last night on campus was pretty cool.
